On August 16th, more than twenty dedicated and enthusiastic union organizers, all from Colorado, came together in Colorado Springs (Springs as Coloradans call it) to reinforce principles and share experiences at the Colorado AFL-CIO Organizing Institute. These organizers sharpened their skills to win campaigns, build worker power and grow the Colorado Union Movement! The training was held at the IBEW Local 113 in Springs. The unions who sent participants to this training were: SMART, NALC, ATU, IBEW, SEIU, IBT, & IATSE.

Shout Outs to:

  • IBEW 113 Business Manager Daniel Mondragon (2017 OI Graduate) for allowing the training to be held in their amazing hall in Springs;

  • Colorado AFL-CIO President Bryant Preston and Executive Director Dennis Dougherty for their vision to build a movement to meet this moment in Colorado;

  • Colorado AFL-CIO Organizing Director Robert Lindgren for his steadfast commitment to make this training happen in Springs;

  • Organizers Cassidy Dubarton (SEIU), Les Thompson (IBEW 113), Jon Christiansen (CWA -UCW), Eilex Rodriguez (CWA-UCW) and John Davis (SMART 9) for taking the time away from their families and campaigns to serve as CO AFL-CIO OI Teaching Fellows to tool up this generation of union organizers!
