A Strong Voice for Colorado's Workers
The Colorado AFL-CIO’s primary focus is building power for working people and fighting for a fair and just economy for all. Our members build and maintain vital infrastructure, provide healthcare, and work the essential jobs that keep Colorado moving. With over 130,000 union members across 180 affiliate unions, we accomplish this in every facet of our Federation’s work. This work is devoted to organizing new workers, supporting locals in negotiations, electing leaders and advocating for legislation that benefits working people, and engaging with many communities in Colorado, both in and outside the labor movement.
Political & Electoral Field Program
The Colorado AFL-CIO works to elect pro-labor candidates to push for a Colorado where workers can thrive and grow. Our members are stalwart volunteers that do the hard work to ensure their neighbors, families, friends and co-workers know who supports working people in Colorado. This includes having honest and direct conversations about what is happening in the state and moving people to be active participants in democracy.
Government Affairs & Public Policy
The Colorado AFL-CIO’s advocacy in the halls of power provides a strong voice for all working people in the state. While workers are focused on their jobs, we focus on making those jobs better. We collaborate with allied community-based organizations to develop and pass legislation designed to give all Coloradans a pathway to prosperity. Running 3-5 proactive bills every year and amending or defeating about 25 others, the CO AFL-CIO has a strong presence in the Colorado General Assembly. Additionally, the organization offers training to members and their families to help them better engage in policy making to support their union and non-union workers alike.
Communications
From press relations to graphic design services, the Colorado AFL-CIO Communications hub supports all our program areas, while providing strategic communications assistance to affiliate unions, campaigns, and allied organizations. We can help your organization develop a strategy for communicating with your members and with the general public, as well as offer graphic design, digital/social media campaigns, and targeted press outreach to ensure that your message is hitting the correct audience.
