Josh Obie
Josh Obie brings several years of experience with multiple unions and a love for his home state to the Colorado AFL-CIO. He was born and raised in Aurora, CO and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado (UNCO) in 2005. He returned to UNCO to earn his MBA in 2022. Josh began his work in the labor movement with the Colorado Association of Public Employees (CAPE) as an Office Manager. He then joined the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) when they merged with CAPE to organize state employees. While at SEIU, Colorado WINS formed, and Josh served as their Database Manger and assisted Denver field staff. At Colorado WINS, he worked with staff in the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). Josh later positioned himself with the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and served as Administrative Secretary to District 7 Vice President, Brenda Roberts, through her two terms. He then transitioned to CWA’s Human Resources department as Benefits Specialist before joining the Colorado AFL-CIO.
